The MCD never consulted the local RWAs for this construction of underground parking under the beautiful and green Shiv Vatika.
There is no parking requirement by the residents. There is enough area within the blocks to overcome the parking needs.
The residents are not at all in favour of sacrificing the beautiful Shiv vatika for any kind of parking needs.
This is the only open and green area of this magnitude in this otherwise congested area of Shalimar Bagh.
Hundreds of people come here everyday for morning, evening walks, social gatherings, yoga and exercise sessions, judo-karate for kids, senior citizens heath awareness group gathering etc.

There is enough space outside Shiv vatika on the opposite side of the road (adjacent to local shopping centre AL Market). That area can be used for the parking pupose. But unfortunately all this available space is highly encroached. There are about 30 taxies of an unauthorized taxi stand which cover all the space and is a major cause of traffic caos. The authorities should think about locating these illigal encroachments and taxi stand to some other site and make space available for a parking lot here rather than distubing the more than 30 years old green and open area and a fully developed park AN-AM bolocks of Shalimar Bagh.

If already there is enough parking area within the blocks, then it makes no sense constructing an underground parking under the Shiv Vatika. Green area is an asset in today's world where there is so much of pollution. MCD should rethink about this step....
